Education

Catholic Charities staff are available to meet a varity of  education and training needs for parishes, social service providers, schools, and community groups.  Opportunities include:

  • Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching:  Learn more about the work that Catholic Charities perfoms in the community.  Full agency overviews or presentations specific to one area of our work (Disaster Services, Refugee & Immigration Services, Housing & Financial Counseling, Parish Social Ministry) are available.  We also love to present on Catholic Social Teaching and will tailor a course to fit your group’s needs.  Contact Dan Lester for details and scheduling.

  • Mental Health First Aid:  Catholic Charities has a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer on staff, available to the community.  Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues.  Visit the Mental Health First Aid website to learn more.  Contact Alissa Marlow for details and scheduling.
  • First Aid and CPR: Our American Red Cross certified trainer is available to present to your group.  Contact John Doyle for details and scheduling.
Advocacy Catholic Charities works closely with the Missouri Catholic Conference to advocate for public policies that support the most vulnerable of our neighbors. The Missouri Catholic Conference is the public policy agency of the Catholic Church in Missouri. The conference promotes the common good by advocating for public policy that upholds the sanctity and dignity of all human life.  Learn more about the Conference’s Public Policy Priorities here.
